We have been collecting and carrying many types of donations to this orphanage over the past 6 years. These include: toys, clothing, shoes, stationary, linen, and money ( from organisations such as the Lion's Club).
The Orphanage is located 2 km up the road from the villas and is run by the wonderful Franciscan Nuns. There is no government funding therefore they rely solely on donations from local and overseas people.
At last count there were 86 children living there with ages ranging from 3 to 18 yrs. They attend the Thomas Aquino School on the corner while the older children walk to the new high school about 1 km along the road. Schooling is the No. 1 priority for each child and as it is very expensive in Bali, this is where the cash donations are greatly appreciated.
The children are always happy to meet visitors and often perform songs for us in between trying to speak English. The nuns are most hospitable, always serving us refreshments and offering the guest book to be read and signed.
